Morning Notes
US stock futures are higher this morning along with European stocks on signs of strength in global manufacturing activity. Energy stocks are also helping to give the market strength with a boost in WTI crude prices. Asian stocks closed the day mostly up. Today is expected to be a day of light volume as many traders will take the day off ahead of Independance Day tomorrow, July 4. Markets will close early at 1:00 ET today.
Technicals
The SPY tested and remained below the 20 EMA throughout Friday’s session and is gapping back above in early premarket. Support will lie at the low of yesterday’s range at $241.57, followed by the 50 SMA at $240.94, then the near term support pivot at $240.65, continued with $239.93, $239.51, $238.82 and the 100 SMA at $238.20. Resistance will lie at the 20 EMA at 252.50, followed by the high of Friday’s range at $242.71, then $243.72, $244.38, $244.73, $244.87, and the record highs at $245.01.
