The take-off

Networks are engaging in a dynamic move that involves rolling out 5G networks across the globe. In response to this shift, phone manufacturers are launching gadgets that have the capacity to access the networks. There is a far-reaching expectation that Apple will introduce a 5G-compatible phone in 2020. According to a recent report, all three of Apple’s phones will back 5G.

In the previous month, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo indicated that the coming year’s 5.4-inch as well as 6.7-inch iPhone models would facilitate 5G. With reference to that report, the third device, a less expensive 6.1-inch iPhone XR successor, would only gain access to LTE networks.

Nonetheless, Kuo has now provided a new statement that amends that projection: All three iPhone models will uphold 5G. In addition, he states that “Apple has more resource for developing the 5G iPhone.” He justifies that with the acquisition of Intel baseband trade and the decrease in the price of Android 5G phones.

Nonetheless, this report comes days after an announcement by Apple of its acquisition of a large share of Intel’s modem business for $1 billion. This claim by MacRumors points out that the company is not ready to switch away from Qualcomm until 2021 before possessing its own version.

Core concerns

The underlying issue is that consumers will perceive that 5G is the fundamental function in 2020. Therefore, as the note continues to read, Kuo explains that iPhone models which will sell at higher prices have to enable 5G. In so doing, Apple will win more subsidies from consumers’ purchase intent and mobile operators.

Kuo’s expectation is that most Android phones will support the sub-6GHz version of 5G as opposed to the mmWave version, which offers better speed. In essence, Apple is confident that its customers are ready to enjoy the benefits of the vast range of 5G networks and will pay a bit more.

Alongside this 5G technology, it is anticipated that the 2020 iPhone will be available in new sizes. Apple is also making efforts to own modem chips, although this technology will be ready in 2021.

In earlier sentiments by Kuo, Apple will ship iPhones with 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen size that will have OLED screens as the key feature. These screens are on Apple’s high-end iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
