New innovations by a smart TV maker Samsung could give this manufacturer a competitive edge in a pretty large market.

Dean Takahashi at VentureBeat reports today that Samsung’s gaming hub, as shown off at CES 2022, is due to debut later this year.

The ecosystem includes contributions by gaming partner Nvidia and others.

“Our Samsung Smart TVs provide the ultimate entertainment destination for everyone across generations, interests, and viewing preferences,” Won-Jin Lee, corporate president at Samsung Electronics, said in a press statement. “We know that gaming continues to increase in popularity for our customers and we have bridged the gap between our Smart TV leadership and advanced gaming software to create an easier way for people to enjoy the games they love, faster. We developed the Samsung Gaming Hub with our incredible content partners to benefit all gamers, and we plan to continue our collaboration to grow the ecosystem.”

Another big feature on Samsung TVs being talked about right now is characterized as NFT support.

It looks like Samsung TV owners will be able to showcase their purchased NFTs on the display of the television screen in an organized way.

Chris Welch at The Verge reports buyers will also be able to preview and research NFT assets before buying, but the display option will be attractive to NFT owners.

“A smart calibration feature on the TVs will automatically adjust display settings ‘to the creator’s preset values, so you can have peace of mind that your work looks impeccable, with true-to-the-original image quality,’” Welch writes. “You’ve heard of things like Dolby Vision or Netflix Calibrated Mode, and now NFTs will get a similar treatment.”

In addition, in a separate contemporary article, Welch describes other evolution for Samsung screens.

“Samsung’s 2022 TVs will continue to run the company’s Tizen OS, but they’ll now come with a totally revamped home screen that’s described as ‘a testament to our vision for the future of TVs,’” Welch writes, once again quoting spokespersons verbatim, and citing a new Samsung ‘Media Screen’ feature for organization.

Look for all of this in the Korean tech maker’s new lineup.
