NQ has recently been on a tear to the upside for the month of June, tacking on over 50% to its share price. What was the catalyst behind the strong surge? On Monday, June 1, the company announced the replacement of the Chief Financial Officer, Vincent Wenyong Shi. Roland Wu, a former director, will step up to fill the CFO position. The Chairman of NQ noted, “We are happy to announce Mr. Roland Wu’s appointment. Roland brings experience and knowledge to help our Company enhance our financial reporting and internal controls, execute growth plans and deliver value for shareholders over time. We are excited about the future and look forward to his excellent service as our chief financial officer.”

This recent shuffling of management comes as a breath of fresh air after NQ had experienced chaos internally after several significant changes took place.

Himax Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: HIMX)

HIMX technology has moved nearly $2, or 30% since the beginning of June as it is behind the new Oculus Rift, a virtual reality headset. The Oculus Rift is using HIMX to supply parts to power the LCD control in the developer models. As of June 11, Facebook, the owner and driving force behind the Oculus rift, announced the consumer version would be released and available in early 2016.

In addition to the Virtual Reality headset, HIMX is set to benefit on the increasing sales of the new 4K TV’s as HIMX’s drivers are heavily relied upon to power the large panel displays.

The semiconductor stock has also been the recipient of an upgrade out of Bank of America/Merrill Lynch to Buy from Underperform with a price target of $8.50
