Anyone who has attended College has probably consumed coffee at some point to study longer, write papers, prepare for finals, etc… Coffee goes with College like peanut butter and jelly, Batman and Robin, Yin and Yang: well, you get the picture I am sure. When put together something amazing can happen.
In this instance however, it’s more than just sipping coffee and a GPA. It’s about working for a fortune 500 company that will pay you to work for them AND pay your college tuition costs as well! Starbucks (SBUX) said Monday it will offer employees full tuition at Arizona State University’s online program, giving them the chance to earn a bachelor’s degree for free. Starbucks is expanding its college tuition reimbursement program for workers. The coffee chain will now cover the entire cost of an online undergraduate degree. Starbucks has reported that it will invest up to $250 million or more to help at least 25,000 employees graduate by 2025.
The average tuition cost for four years at ASU Online is $60,000.
“By giving our partners access to four years of full tuition coverage, we provide them with a critical tool for a lifelong opportunity,” says Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, in a statement. “We’re stronger as a nation when everyone is afforded a pathway to success.”
So, the next time you go and purchase your favorite java blend from Starbucks, know that you are helping in the effort to assist students to get a great education: and all for free.
